Regular massage therapy in Newcastle – why consistency wins

A therapeutic massage in progress, easing tension across the neck and shoulders

A single massage can make your body feel relaxed, with aches better for a day. But when massage becomes a regular monthly routine, your body slowly begins to change for the better. Regular massage improves circulation, helping oxygen and nutrients reach muscles more efficiently. Over time, this can reduce soft tissue tension, ease chronic aches and pains, improve flexibility and range of motion, whilst supporting faster recovery after physical strain.

Healthcare has been researching and is now understanding the concept of neuro-wellness in relation to health. With this in mind, massage can also affect the nervous system positively by lowering stress hormones such as cortisol, while increasing serotonin and dopamine – the chemicals linked to calmness and emotional balance. This can aid better sleep, lower blood pressure and reduce stress related headaches.

What happens without regular massage

Without massage, everyday stress and muscle tension can accumulate in the body. Long hours of sitting, repetitive movement and mental stress can tighten muscles, slow circulation and keep the body in a constant low level stress response. Over time, this may lead to stiffness, fatigue, poor sleep and recurring aches that people often dismiss as normal parts of daily life.

Research shows massage can help interrupt this cycle by relaxing muscles, calming the nervous system and improving overall physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. In other words, the difference between consistent regular massage and none at all is not just comfort – it can be whether your body regularly resets from stress or carries it forward.

Massage treatments at Ragnar Therapies are available at 30, 45 and 60 minutes (£35, £45 and £55).

Massage and acupuncture combos

Previous blogs have highlighted acupuncture's many benefits, similar to those of massage. But acupuncture can also complement the therapeutic benefits of soft tissue massage, adding even further carry over of positive treatment effects and wellbeing.

Why not try one of our massage and acupuncture combos for a truly nourishing and relaxing therapeutic treatment, offering multiple local relief and improving general systemic health and wellbeing?

At Croft House Clinic in Whickham/Swalwell, we offer massage and acupuncture combo packages. These can either be generic – for example release and relax of the body (back, neck and shoulder massage) with acupuncture needles to aid restorative relaxation and local tension points – or for a specific problem area, such as headaches, with soft tissue release focusing on the upper back, neck, face and jaw, alongside TCM local needles or points to aid headaches and migraines.

Combos can also target other specific health needs, such as women's longevity or women's hormonal health, using massage oils known for their calming and balancing properties, soft tissue techniques to ease tension, pressure point release and specific acupuncture needle points tailored to your needs.
